Eating out with friends and family should be fun but, unfortunately, for people on a diet it can be a stressful occasion.
After all, there are so many temptations on a restaurant menu and there is always something else to try.
It’s also easy for well-meaning companions to derail your weight loss efforts through sheer generosity (we’ve all got the family member who won’t let us say no to a slice of cake!).
One of the main ways that people fall down at restaurant meals is that it almost feels like a ‘break’ from real life, where the rules don’t apply. The only problem is you have to wake up the next day and face the consequences regardless.
If you’re trying to tone up and lose weight but you’ve got a social occasion coming up you should definitely watch the video below by Michelle Bridges. She’s a world-famous personal trainer and creator of 12WBT.
In 60 seconds she lays out the very best ways to enjoy your social event without sabotaging your fitness goals. Anybody out there who worries what their social habits might do to their healthy resolutions should check it out.
The three big rules of eating out?
- Never leave home hungry
- Lean protein + veggies for main (small or no dessert)
- Keep alcohol intake reasonable
That’s it! No need to get more complicated than that if you don’t want to.
In my 8 Week Busy Mum Program I use a similar approach to Michelle. Instilling positive habits and eliminating our self-sabotaging behaviour, however small, really is the key to long-term success when it comes to your body shape. There are certain things that you really need to know.
